In 2004 whilst delivering a moving and handling training course to the Northern Ireland Ambulance service the question of taking people downstairs who couldn’t use a chair and carrying a person across rough ground who couldn’t lay flat was discussed.
The conventional carry sheet was not suitable as the person would be at risk of falling out. “ Why doesn’t someone make a carry sheet with a footpocket that would address this issue? “ was asked by a member of the training team.
