Back Injuries Reduced by 89%

With West Country Ambulance Services NHS Trust we were engaged to produce a new set of standards aimed at significantly reducing the appalling level of back injuries amongst UK ambulance staff.

This was delivered through the creation of a high quality film based training resource pack that linked directly to a nationally accredited course for ambulance tutors also designed and developed by us.

The programme created has become the national standard and is now used by over 90% of all English ambulance trusts in addition to many private and voluntary services.

The result saw actual injuries drop from 19% of staff each year to just 2%, a reduction of 89% in incidents, against a background of more incidents being reported and more staff employed, making the results achieved even more remarkable.
