Course Aims - To introduce the new Equality Act 2010;
- To clarify the distinctions between equality and diversity;
- To examine the various types of unfair treatment and how they may occur;
- To help identify behaviour and actions that might be inappropriate;
- To provide pointers to assist in changes in behaviour.

What delegates will learn Overall the course has the following learning outcomes; - Delegates will be able to recognise and explain the main differences between equality and diversity, why they are important and how they apply in their own service and in society in general.
- Become familiar with the new equality legislation and amended equality groups, called ‘protected characteristics’.
- Recognise instances of unfair treatment and how to ‘challenge’. Explore terms like Prejudice, Stereotyping, Discrimination, and Harassment.
- Why differences develop between people and tips on how to interact with colleagues and customers and adapt personal behaviour if necessary.
- Standards expected by employers and how they relate to the general principles of equality and diversity.
