Course Aims

• To equip competent Manual Handling trainers with the knowledge and skills to identify and report on issues in the workplace that have either lead to a reduction of injuries, or make recommendations on further actions required to reduce risks in the workplace.
• To enable participants to share experiences since previously trained.
• To identify any organisational or personal issues that have promoted or hindered the strategy.
• To enable participants to build confidence and reinforce little used handling skills

This specialist course has been designed by a team of manual handling experts from a range of healthcare settings. The core aim is to create a more confident manual handling trainer who can audit his/ her employer’s activities and then objectively and effectively report on the findings.

Course Introduction

This extended course has been designed to ensure members of your team have specialist skills in analysing and reporting on the effectiveness of the organisations manual handling strategy, so that, the employer is able to have objective evidence of the level of compliance with best practice.

The course centres on participants investigating and reporting on practice in the workplace and submitting a 2000 word report on either what has been achieved or needs to be achieved. The assignment is then submitted at least a month before a training day when participants have to present and discuss their findings. They are assessed on their written submission and presentation. The reminder of the day reviews best practice, gives participants the opportunity to be updated and problem solve.

This programme stimulates an ideal climate for change to attitudes, practices and motivation which is essential to improving performance in the work place.

Participants discover new ways to investigate and report their findings within a clear framework provided by Solutions. It will also provide the employer with up to date evidence of compliance or where there is room for further improvement.

Assessment process

Marks will be assigned to the written assignment and the presentation of the findings to other course participants.

Certification / Accreditation:

EDEXCEL / BTEC Professional Certificate in Advanced Theory & Practice.( Level 4 award)
Assessment criteria and registration fee available on request.

Special requirements of course participants:

Participants must be prepared to complete an assignment that may take several days in the design and production.

Course Trainers:

Solutions trainers come from ambulance and nursing backgrounds. All have adult teaching/ training qualifications. All are recognised by the Middlesex University and EDEXCEL as accredited manual handling trainers.
