Course Aims

  • To equip participants with addition skills and knowledge to develop risk assessment skills
  • To reduce risk of injury to staff and others.
  • To avoid prosecution and litigation.

This course has been designed with the core aim of creating a more confident and more motivated, risk assessor to reduce risks of muscular or skeletal injury.

Course Introduction

This course has been designed to ensure your team member is able to combine existing knowledge and skills in respect of back safety issues with additional skills so that, risks are reduced, to both employees and others, mitigating your risk to claims and litigation.

The course centres on improving risk assessment skills by combining the use of ergonomic theories and the use of practical assessment tools.

This course stimulates an ideal climate for change to attitudes, practices and motivation which is essential to improving performance in the work place.

Participants will learn new methods of conducting risk assessments by adding sound evidence to their assessments. This will be of extra use to those who influence design or layout of activities that involve a risk of musculo-skeletal injury.

Course Objectives:

At the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • Identify the causes of low back pain and work related upper limb disorders, by recognizing human capabilities and limitations
  • Apply the ergonomic assessment tools “Rapid Entire Body Assessment “ (REBA) and Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA)
  • Be able to advise on modifying workplaces and procedures by applying ergonomic principles
  • Conduct “and record ergonomic assessments

Course Trainers:

Solutions trainers come from ambulance and nursing backgrounds and are recognised by the Middlesex University and EDEXCEL as accredited manual handling trainers. All have adult teaching / training qualifications and have undertaken specialist training in ergonomics
